Matilda Mining Centre

The Matilda Mining Centre is located approximately 19kms SSW of the Wiluna Mining Centre. The ore from Matilda is predominantly free milling ore and provided the baseload of ore in the first two years of production by Wiluna Mining when the Wiluna plant was commissioned in November 2016.

The Matilda Mining Centre encompasses 10km of strike along the highly prospective Coles Shear. The historical workings comprise a series of shallow open pits to an average depth of 50 metres over a strike length of approximately 3.5 kilometres. Gold mineralisation is hosted within shear zones with supergene gold occurring within the zone of oxidation. Mineralisation remains open both along strike and at depth.

A number of operators mined at Matilda to the early 1990s until production ceased in 1992 due to low gold prices, with a total combined production (since the early 1900’s) of approximately 2.66Mt @ 2.3 g/t gold for 163,000 ounces of gold.

In 2016, Wiluna Mining recommenced mining at a number of new pits and pit cut-backs that provided the majority of the feed for the processing plant at Wiluna. Matilda has a JORC Mineral Resource of 147koz @ 2.13g/t (above 1.0g/t cut-off). Mining has ceased while feed is sourced from Wiluna (and previously Williamson).

High-grade sulphide mineralisation has been identified below the current pits with potential for future surface or underground mining once the sulphide ore treatment circuit at Wiluna is operational.

KEY POINTS:

  • 01 Mining occurred between 2016 to 2020.
  • 02 The mine is only 19km from Wiluna Gold Plant by existing haul road
  • 03 Matilda has a JORC Mineral Resource of 147koz @ 2.13g/t (above 1.0g/t cut-off).
  • 04 The Matilda pits have supplied mostly oxide material mined from all pits, generally to <50m depth.
  • 05 Most Matilda pits remain open along strike.
